Gordon Harvey’s Writing From Sources
This book is a comprehensive handbook on plagiarism and other academic issues. It is available in the bookstore, in Magill, and in the Science Library.
A Student’s Guide to Writing in the Life Sciences
Available in the Writing Center, this handbook discusses issues of plagiarism and academic dishonesty pertaining to lab reports, research papers, and research and grant proposals. The Writing Center library also contains other useful works, including Writing the Laboratory Notebook (American Chemical Society), Writing With Numbers, and Writing About Science.
Harvard Guide to Using Sources
This website is a comprehensive guide to locating, evaluating, integrating, and citing sources in your work. The section on Avoiding Plagiarism is particularly helpful in explaining what constitutes plagiarism, what is considered common knowledge, and how to avoid plagiarism.
