Clearness Committee Final Report 2018-19

Report of the 2018-19 Clearness Committee Appendix to the Report

The report and appendix on this page draw from the results of a 130+ question survey which 70% of Haverford students took in January 2019. This report is one of the broadest and deepest investigations of the Haverford student body to date and provides many insights, surprising and unsurprising, about our campus.

Questions: If you have any questions or concerns about the report or anything else Clearness related please don’t hesitate to email  We look forward to hearing from you and assisting with any questions!

Data: Our report is just the start of unpacking everything the data that came out of this survey have to teach us. There are insights we missed and patterns left to be found. The work of exploring this treasure trove is all of ours over the next three years. If you or your group/organization would like to gain access to our raw data to perform your own analysis or would like access to short answer data for the same reason please email us at Truly, our work is just the first step.

The report is broken into nine core sections.  Student Life, Athletics, Politics, Faculty and Administration, Academics, Diversity, Student Health, Honor Code, and Student Governance.

The appendix includes 1) a printed copy of the survey and 2) basic data on student response to every question on the survey.  This appendix does not include short answer responses to preserve confidentiality. Students shared with us in great depth and providing those responses in full could endanger confidentiality we promised to protect.

* The “2018 Clearness Committee” was meant to run February 2018 – December 2018. Due to slow appointments and the Code Crisis it ran effectively February or May 2018 – September 2019, hence the “2018-19 Clearness Committee.” A Plenary resolution is forthcoming to adjust the timeline of the committee to make timely completion possible in future years.
